Michael J. Parshall is a consultant with The Health Care Group.®
In 1984, Mr. Parshall became the sole executive recruiter for US Healthcare, reporting to the Executive Vice President. While at US Healthcare, he completed over forty executive searches including Chief Actuary, Chief Financial Officer, and several vice-presidencies. In 1987, he joined the Health Care Group to develop and lead the firm’s recruiting and practice brokerage divisions. At HCG, Mr. Parshall and his team completed over 300 searches for physicians and practice management talent, and he valued hundreds of practices. He authored over 150 articles on recruiting, physician compensation, practice valuations and sales, and he co-authored Selling Your Medical Practice.
Mr. Parshall has lectured at many major universities, and on behalf of specialty societies and pharmaceutical corporations, including Duke, Stanford, Mayo Clinic, Vanderbilt, the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology from which he received the Academy's Achievement Award in 2004, Johnson & Johnson and Biogen-Idec.
He concentrates in the areas of practice valuation, physician compensation, physician and executive recruitment, practice and ancillary services development, efficiency of practice operations, strategic planning, payer contract negotiations and practice and ASC brokerage. Mr. Parshall has authored numerous articles in national health care publications and he has lectured extensively to physicians and practice managers to increase the efficiency of their medical practice operations, establish surgery centers, recruit additional providers and sub-specialists, develop ancillary services, or sell their practices, ASC's and ancillary businesses.
Mr. Parshall graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Biology. He served in the United States Marine Corps as an Air Traffic Controller following graduation. Returning to civilian life, he took positions with Olivetti Corporation, Kelly Services, and Victor Corporation rising from sales representative to regional manager. Fox-Morris Personnel Consultants recruited him to work with Fortune 500 companies seeking executive talent at the Vice President level before moving to US Healthcare.
